Prairie Rose School Division

Keeping up with changing trends.

Division Snapshot

  • 800 employees
  • 3,100 students
  • 17 schools
  • Approximate operating budget of $34.2 million

Since adopting Breeze for Teachers, Prairie Rose has been delivering high quality news and media to their students, parents and community.

Problem: How do you keep a school division successful in light of rapidly changing mobile trends?

In the last year mobility demographics have skyrocketed - approximately 34% of visitors to a school or division site are now using a smart phone or tablet.

To match this rise in mobile traffic, successful websites need to be responsively designed and adaptive. Bringing Prairie Rose up to speed started with some specific goals:

  1. To deliver a consistent experience on any device
  2. To provide touch friendly navigation (no pinch zooming required)
  3. To produce a media focused design for a media focused school division

New devices are being released faster than ever before - this is exciting, but it also provides a unique set of challenges when it comes to delivering a consistent experience. To stay on-top, and with our goals in mind, we implemented a mixture of server-side detection and media queries. This server-side mixture ensures consistency and reliability on any device regardless of it's parameters.
