Our visitor count per day reaches close to one million people between all schools and district web pages. To prepare for the next two quarters of the year, we've made a few changes: We've added about 25% more physical processing power and memory to our environment We changed from using the Apache web server (threaded processes) to Nginx (event driven) We also have two exciting, highly requested feature changes: Multiple bus routes can now be cancelled by geographic location Absence requests for preferred substitutes now get a notification after approval http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=185&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=185&stream=Frontpage News Welcoming 5 New Divisions!   It has been an incredible few months here at Dreamstalk - full of new opportunities, breakthroughs and many exciting projects. As we transition into the holiday season, of what has been our biggest and best year yet, we have no shortage of things to be proud of and thankful for.   Most recently - and certainly share worthy - has been the privilege of officially welcoming 5 new school divisions to the family!  Say hello to:    Dehcho Educational Council  The team at Dehcho came to us looking to radically improve their web presence. With a launch scheduled early in the new year - stay tuned - it's going to be good.    Stoney Educational Authority Ramping up to what is going to be a great 2015, the Stoney Educational Authority wanted to put their schools on the map. This division has a lot of great things going on and we can't wait to showcase everything on their new sites.   Grande Yellowhead Public Schools We have been working with a handful of Grande Yellowhead schools for sometime now - so we already have some great friends on the team here!  Earlier this year, after evaluating their current situation, the division decided they wanted to bring all of their websites up the same standard. We are currently working closely with their team to produce a game changing web presence for their division. The solutions we are introducing will be maximizing their communication efforts, division wide.  When these sites go live this will truly be a division transformed.    Aspen View Public Schools This year, a goal for Aspen View was to clean-up and consolidate their websites and software use. Using the many features within Breeze for Teachers and our industry leading expertise we have presented them the opportunity to do just that!  Aspen View will also be working with us to develop some brand new features and offerings within our system. We couldn't be more excited to collaborate with them in this way. This project will revolutionize everything for the Aspen View team and have a big impact within our community - stay tuned!    Buffalo Trail Public Schools The biggest, and most recent, addition to the lineup - this is certainly going to be a project to keep an eye on.  During the selection process it was quickly apparent that their team would be a great fit for our unique way of working alongside school divisions.  The results here will be a testament to the fact that what we do is about so much more than great technology and design - it's about building into people and creating community.   With the amazing team at BTPS this project is going to come together beautifully.    We aren't just building the best school websites - we are building one of the best and most exciting education communities in the world. These new additions, and the many more to follow, are proof of that.   To those of you that are currently working with us, we encourage you to reach out to these divisions for a warm Dreamstalk style welcome. For those of you that aren't - let's talk - this is a pretty exciting place to be right now!    http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=157&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=157&stream=Frontpage News ATLE Convergence Conference! The weekend is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited!  From Sunday to Tuesday we will have a booth set-up at the ATLE's Convergence Conference. If you are attending this year be sure to come say hi and check out our shiny new booth! (courtesy of Display Dynamics) Our booth will also feature guest appearances from some of our division partners. If you're a division partner, come join the family reunion. If you aren't - no worries - come for a visit and find out what you've been missing!  We are also thrilled to be partnering with the ATLE to deliver a new web presence for their organization and members. Our work with them will be showcased throughout the weekend. Unveilings are always a blast, so don't miss out on that either!  This past year has been incredible. We have welcomed many new divisions into our community, added - and continue to add - great new features and improvements to our software, grown as team, won multiple awards, and many other amazing things! We can't wait to add this year's ATLE conference to the list.  http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=155&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=155&stream=Frontpage News Breeze Update Breeze for Teachers has been patched this week with quite a few feature changes and fixes. New Module: Work Order Management Now your school division can manage all of its work orders right through Breeze for Teachers! Teachers can submit tickets, leads within the school can take a first crack at solving the problem, and if necessary, issues can be escalated up to central office departments for absolute resolution. Our “fast and easy” approach makes adoption of this new module completely painless. If you’re currently paying for a third-party work order system we would encourage you to take a look at ours. As always, exciting new developments come at no additional cost and we’d love to help you save some of your budget! Our team would like to send a special thanks to Mark and Colton from Wolf Creek who helped design and test the system with us! We fed it. We nurtured it. Blood, sweat and tears went into maneuvering it through its adolescent years. And, here we are today. The company has grown significantly and we now face a different set of challenges. Jack Welsh once said, "Change, before you have to." It is bitter-sweet today as we announce the acquisition of Dreamstalk Studios by StarDyne Technologies. Our young, charismatic zeal has served Dreamstalk well, but the wisdom and experience of StarDyne will offer temperance that ensures longevity and consistency. StarDyne has observed our unique, people-centric culture and wants to preserve this above all else. In fact, we hope to rub off on them as much as they do us! Our team, our support and our values and beliefs will remain unchanged. My role will be adapted slightly in order to bring a wealth of new ideas, people and resources together but I will still be very much actively involved with Dreamstalk. Thank you to all of our school divisions. You make this the best industry to work in. You are a passionate and creative people who help shape the world every day – you let us be a part of that. To my team, Kaleb, Keira, Kate, Erin, Shauna and Amaris: you take up the Dreamstalk values every day and make them your own, serving as guardians. Thank you for sharing in my dream of what a people-centric company can be and for helping to preserve it. But, this isn't a "good-bye" moment. We're just getting started. It's going to be another great year full of innovation, problem solving, and growing together; and, we're excited to share it with our new extended family. When a student, parent or community members reads something they like they can now share it on their favourite social media site from all news and media feeds Accounts that are associated to multiple sites can no longer be deleted from the Administration account panel -- this now requires division control News items were allowing for non-image data (e.g. PDF) to be uploaded in older browsers -- this resulted in the occasional broken image link appearing Some changes were made to the white and black list filtering system http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=89&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=89&stream=Frontpage News Happy Easter Happy Easter from the Dreamstalk Team. The only time of year when it's safe to put all your eggs in one basket! Our office will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=87&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=87&stream=Frontpage News Breeze Update April 12 - The Breeze for Teachers software has been patched this week with a number of small changes and fixes. IP Whitelist The whitelist screen has been updated with a much friendlier interface that offers a much clearer explanation on how users can quickly and easily add their location. Editor New YouTube and Media buttons have been added to both the page editor screen and any locations where formatted editing occurs. This will make it substantially faster and easier for users to embed media. Users can now upload images right from the editor by clicking the image icon and selecting "Browse Server." Directly below the image directory tree is an upload box. A number of small IE11 issues have been fixed. Parent-Teacher Interviews The teacher appointment screen has been updated so that it will automatically refresh on the day an interview occurs. This will help ensure teachers are always seeing the latest schedule changes. When setting up interview appointments administrators can now select which teachers will participate in the interviews. The software had previously assumed all teachers would participate. Parents without a portal account can now call the school administration to book an appointment. News News items can now be post-dated. There are three dates that are associated with news: The date the news occurs, which helps sort the news. The date you want the news posted, which allows you to pre-emptively add news that will automatically become public at 12:00am on the day selected. The date you want news to expire from your website. Facebook does not support pre-emptive posting and so adding the news to your Facebook account or Facebook page(s) will result in the news immediately being released through this medium. Miscellaneous We fixed an issue where uploading multiple graphics through the image manager would sometimes cause the control to only support single files if used quickly a second time. Photo album names must now be unique per site. Having two albums with the same name was causing some issues when albums were embedded on teacher pages. http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=85&stream=Frontpage News http://www.dreamstalk.ca/view.php?action=object&id=85&stream=Frontpage News
